Holistic healing through Chinese medicine in Kommetjie

Dr Thomas Jahn is a practitioner of Chinese medicine with a focus on addressing a broad variety of compromised health states, particularly physical injuries and chronic, stubborn conditions. He specialises in acupuncture, Qigong, herbal medicine, cupping, Tuina massage, and moxibustion. He treats all ages, and is also available to treat animals.

His oriental medicine journey began over thirty years ago whilst growing up in Japan, and continued with formal studies in the US, and then in China to deepen his understanding. He returned to South Africa twenty years ago, and for the last five years, has been based out of his beautiful home practice in Kommetjie.

Typically, the initial session starts off with a consult to assess the “Pattern Diagnosis” which describes the organ relationships responsible for the symptoms experienced. The treatment then focuses on shifting those relationships to work towards an independently functioning body.

Acupuncture is his main go-to modality to accomplish this, which involves the placement of very fine needles along specific energetic pathways to stimulate the self-regulating function of the body.

He is a very gentle practitioner – your sense of ease and feeling safe are paramount. His number one focus is to settle down the nervous system to directly access your body’s attention to release areas of resistance to release function.

He is a facilitator, not a dictator, so if you feel that acupuncture might be too much handle, there is always the option of Tuina massage, cupping or Qigong exercise.

So whether your nervous system simply needs a reset, or there are symptoms that have “outworn their welcome”, he can assist.

Thomas also teaches a group Qi Gong class on Wednesday mornings from 8:00am to 9:30 at St Joseph’s Church, Kommetjie.
