Anything That Floats is a main event each year at the annual Kommetjie Festival. We can’t wait to see what wild creations will hit The Kom water this year!

We have had some absolutely insanely creative entries in the last few years, from giant seagulls to crazy baboons… We’ve seen it all… almost.⁠

2025 Prizes

R5 000 for the Most Creative Float⁠

R3 000 for the First Over the Finish Line⁠

Entries are limited, so gather your crew and start building – before someone else steals your idea!⁠

Competition Rules

To keep things fair, safe, and fun for everyone, please take note of the following guidelines:⁠
⁠
What’s not allowed:⁠

• No lilos, paddle skis, surfboards, SUPs, canoes, boogie boards, or any form of pre-made boat⁠
• No outboard engines⁠
• No polystyrene⁠

Float requirements:⁠

• Your float must be built from scratch
• No pushing or pulling the float once launched
• Floats must be at the launch site by 15:00 sharp (or assembled at The Kom)⁠
• All floats must be removed from The Kom at the end of the race⁠
